Wedding Tips: Catering with Becka Cooper

We sat down with Becka to dive into what makes a wedding caterer truly exceptional.
Can you describe a little about what it’s like catering for a wedding couple and what your style is?
“It’s not just about fabulous food – your caterer will be by your side throughout the entire planning process and running the show on your big day, so it’s essential you click. Your caterer should be honest, playing to their strengths and not pretending to be something they’re not. For example, my team is like family, and that brings a personal touch to each wedding we cater for. If you’re looking for stiff formality, that’s not us. But if you want unpretentious, efficient, and warm service paired with delicious, local, and seasonal food, then we’re the ones for you!”
What advice would you give to couples when it comes to choosing and working with a caterer for their wedding?
“Listen to advice from your caterer and use their experience. This is your one-off special day, but your caterer has done it many times before so make use of their pearls of wisdom because they know what works, particularly when it comes to venues they’ve used before. We’ve held many spectacular feasts for weddings at all the venues at The Grange Hampshire and we can draw on our experience for what works well when.”
Do you have any tips or suggestions that you say to all of your wedding couples?
“Don’t make your food choices based on what you think you ought to have or what you think your guests will want. It’s your day! If you want to have beef fillet with Mac n cheese then you will have it! There are no rules anymore – a great and flexible caterer should help you make up your own rules!”
