A Book Launch Like No Other: Celebrating Playing the Field at The Grange Hampshire

At The Grange Hampshire, we believe the most memorable celebrations don’t follow a formula – they tell a story.

When fashion designer and author Tabitha Webb approached us to host the launch of her latest novel, Playing the Field, our brief was simple: create an experience that felt intimate, inspiring and completely different from a traditional book launch.  Rather than a conventional venue and speeches, we set out to design a day that reflected the beauty of our estate and brought together wonderful people in an unforgettable setting.

Creating an Experience

The day welcomed an inspiring group of authors, creatives, influencers, wine enthusiasts, all coming together to celebrate Tabitha’s latest book.

Guests began with an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our winery, learning about the journey from vine to bottle before enjoying an English wine tasting amongst the vines themselves. It was the perfect opportunity to slow down, enjoy the landscape and connect over exceptional wines from The Grange Wine.

An open-fire feast, that brought everyone together, was created by Rosie & Ripe.  Served beneath our stretch tent, surrounded by breathtaking seasonal meadow flowers created by Hortus Poeticus, the atmosphere was relaxed, elegant and full of conversation.

As the afternoon unfolded, guests climbed aboard our tractor and trailer to explore hidden corners of the estate, discovering landscapes that few visitors ever see. The adventure ended in one of our favourite secluded spots, where everyone embraced a wild swim before gathering on picnic rugs with homemade chocolate brownies, glasses of Grange sparkling and conversations that carried on long into the afternoon.

It was joyful, relaxed and wonderfully authentic – exactly the kind of experience we love to create.

The natural floral styling by Hortus Poeticus beautifully reflected the surrounding landscape, while Rosie & Ripe once again demonstrated why their fire-cooked feasts are such a memorable part of any celebration. Throughout the day, guests enjoyed outstanding English sparkling and still wines from The Grange Wine, perfectly complementing every moment.

Capturing it all was the incredibly talented Ella Mitchell Photography, whose images tell the story of the day far better than words ever could.

What made this book launch so special wasn’t simply the location or the itinerary – it was the feeling it created.

The launch of Playing the Field perfectly captured everything we love about hosting events at The Grange Hampshire: beautiful surroundings, inspiring company, exceptional food and wine, meaningful conversation and moments that simply couldn’t happen anywhere else.
