Sustainability has always had a prominent place at our table. It is deeply rooted in the way we care for the Estate and in what we hope to achieve for its future.

As the saying goes, “We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children”. Our responsibility is to create an Estate that we are proud to pass on to the next generation’s team of custodians – one they will be proud to care for, developing and contributing to it in their own way.

The GrangeColumns at The GrangeTo certify our ongoing sustainability journey, we chose to work with Green Tourism, which independently assessed our practices and awarded us a Silver Award.

The assessment gave us the opportunity to demonstrate our commitment to responsible and sustainable ways of working. This includes playing an active role in our community, reducing our impact on the environment and creating an inclusive and welcoming place for our visitors and employees.

Green Tourism assessed the Estate against 15 sustainability criteria across three pillars: People, Places and Planet. Together, these consider the social, economic and environmental actions we undertake, providing a holistic assessment of our sustainability performance.

Receiving the Silver Award is an encouraging recognition of the progress we have made, but it is also an important starting point. We now have a clear action plan highlighting areas where we can do better and we look forward to seeing what we can build and improve upon for next year’s assessment.
