Looking for a place where you can bring a group together in a house that feels like your own? Somewhere elegant and cared for that still has that relaxed, unstuffy feel of home, where you can unwind, laugh and get immersed in great conversation?
Abbotstone Farmhouse and Barn is an excellent place to escape. Not only has it got eight double bedrooms and some very generous social space (including a big kitchen with an Aga and three colourfully furnished living areas with working fireplaces), it also has additional room for entertainment in the adjacent events barn and surrounding gardens and grounds.
In the summer, you’ll have access to your own private swimming pool and tennis court, while winter afternoons may be spent playing games by the fire. The house comes stocked with drawers full of games and puzzles and there’s a ping pong table in the barn.
There’s a great walk for every season (picnics and pub stops optional) and there’s also opportunities to arrange vineyard tours, wine tastings, riding, fishing and clay pigeon shooting without leaving the estate. If your stay is in June or July, you could even catch world-class opera live at The Grange Festival.
Use of the resident food wizard Becka Cooper is optional and the formality of her catering can be dialled up or down for individual meals, as required.
